Dr. Jennifer Haley studied music performance and psychology at Indiana University, eventually going on to obtain a Master's Degree in education and Doctoral Degree from Pace University in Manhattan. She has worked as the principal flutist of the Adelphi Symphony Orchestra and performs regularly with the Atlantic Wind Symphony, Sound Symphony and Long Island Professional Flute Choir. Jennifer has performed with the Amalfi Coast Music Festival in Italy, and more locally at the Gateway Playhouse, Theater Three, and CM Performing Arts Center. Her most influential teachers have included Peter Lloyd, Julius Baker, Alison Hubbard, and Harold Bennett. In addition to performing, Jennifer finds great joy in teaching; she has maintained a private flute studio for over twenty-five years. Her students have always been a great source of inspiration and many have gone on to major in music in college and teach professionally. Jennifer is the newest member of Flutissimo! Claudia Beeby received her degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin at Madison where she studied flute with Ernestine Whitman. Upon returning to New York, she worked as Vice President of a direct marketing firm, continued her flute studies with Lucille Goeres, and performed with a woodwind quintet under the direction of bassoonist Jane Taylor at the Lucy Moses School of Music. She has also performed in recitals at Merkin Concert Hall, St. Bartholomew’s Church, and the Turtle Bay School of Music in Manhattan. Other teachers include Suzanne Butterfield, Kathleen Purcell, and Jerene Weitman. Ms. Beeby is a founding member of Flutissimo!, is a member of the Northwinds Symphonic Band, and has played with the North Shore Symphony Orchestra. Leslie Strait is the principal flute of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra, the Symphonic Pops of Long Island, the Island Symphony Orchestra, and the LIU Post Orchestra. On piccolo she joins the Northport Symphony Orchestra, and the Long Island Festival Orchestra. She is a member of the Long Island Flute Club professional choir, and the Flutissimo! Flute Quartet. While at Syracuse University, she studied with John Oberbrunner. Other teachers include Harold Bennett, Alison Hubbard, and Jeff Weissman. She made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2005. A lover of choral music, she has performed with the Long Island Symphonic Choral Association, the Masterworks Chorus, and the Long Island Philharmonic Chorus. Ms. Strait runs a private flute studio in East Northport New York. Jerene Weitman is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music where she studied with John Thomas, Walfrid Kujala, and Joseph Mariano. She received a Master of Arts in Humanities degree from Hofstra University. She has performed in solo recitals, with local symphony orchestras, and with the Prevailing Winds Woodwind Quintet, the Huntington Chamber Players, and the Hunt Trio. She is a founding member of the Flutissimo! Flute Quartet and is a member of the New York Flute Club and the National Flute Association. She is also a performing member of The Tuesday Morning Music Club of Douglaston. Ms. Weitman taught music for many years, first in South Huntington and later in the Cold Spring Harbor School District, where she was Director of Junior and Senior High Orchestras and District Coordinator of Music and Art. For several years, she served as Coordinator of Pubic Programs at the Heckscher Museum of Art and, most recently, served as Executive Director of Long Island Masterworks performing arts organization.
